Winner of prominent image competitors confesses image was created by AI

Boris Eldagsen’s image won the imaginative open classification in the prominent Sony World Photography Award whose winners were revealed recently. Ends up however, Eldagsen was being a “saucy monkey,” as he explained himself upon confessing that the winning image– entitled “Pseudomnesia: The Electrical expert”– was developed by generative expert system.

” Thank you for picking my image and making this a historical minute, as it is the very first AI created image to win in a prestigous global PHOTOGRAPHY competitors,” Eldagsen stated in a declaration published on his site “The number of of you understood or presumed that it was AI created? Something about this does not feel right, does it? AI images and photography must not take on each other in an award like this. They are various entities. AI is not photography. For that reason I will decline the award.”

A representative for the World Photography Organisation, the photography hair of art occasions organisers Creo, stated that throughout their conversations with the artist, prior to he was revealed as the winner, he had actually validated the piece was a “co-creation” of his image utilizing AI.
