After sending out Winston & & Strawn a letter threatening lawsuits if the company moved forward with a 1L variety scholarship previously this month, the American Alliance for Equal Rights (AAER) took legal action against the law practice on Monday in the Southern District of Texas.
The AAER, led by conservative legal activist Edward Blum, implicated the company’s 1L LCLD Scholars Program of being prejudiced versus straight white males, due to application requirements mentioning that candidates should be members of “disadvantaged and/or traditionally underrepresented” groups in the legal occupation.
