This striking image reveals the largely jam-packed globular cluster referred to as NGC 2210, which is located in the Big Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The LMC lies about 157 000 light-years from Earth, and is a so-called satellite galaxy of the Galaxy, indicating that the 2 galaxies are gravitationally bound. Globular clusters are extremely steady, firmly bound clusters of thousands or perhaps countless stars. Their stability suggests that they can last a long period of time, and for that reason globular clusters are typically studied in order to examine possibly older excellent populations.
