STAT+: Gilead beats federal government in carefully watched fight over patents for HIV avoidance tablets


A federal jury handed a significant win to Gilead Sciences on Tuesday in a carefully watched fight with the U.S. federal government over the rights to groundbreaking HIV avoidance tablets.

The jury chose Gilead did not infringe on patents held by the Centers for Illness Control and Avoidance and, in truth, that the company &#x 2019; s patents were void. The CDC assisted fund scholastic research study into HIV avoidance that later on formed the basis for the tablets. The Department of Health and Human being Providers competed that Gilead declined to reach a licensing arrangement in spite of numerous efforts to reach an offer.
